Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Is there a limit to how expensive my project can be to qualify for this funding opportunity?
This one-time donation only applies to projects with a total project goal under $800, including taxes, shipping, fees, and the suggested donation to support DonorsChoose. Anything over the total project goal will not qualify for this one-time donation. Shipping charges may vary and the suggested donation amount can't be removed from a project's total goal. While you cannot remove the suggested donation, donors can choose to opt-out of giving a portion of their donation to DonorsChoose.
Q: How can I ensure that my project is fully funded by the Nevada donation?
If your project’s total project goal is under $690, then you will be fully funded by the $690 Nevada donation. This means that you should request around $500 in materials. The rest of your project’s costs are then covered by the remainder of the Nevada donation. Here’s an example project that has less than $690 in resources and would be fully funded by the Nevada donation.
The total project goal is shown on your project as you’re carting materials. For this offer, projects with a total goal over $800 will not receive funding.
Q: Which Nevada educators qualify for this funding through DonorsChoose?
All Nevada public school educators who teach students in Pre-K – 12th grade are eligible for the program. For the purposes of this program, “Nevada educator” is defined as any full-time equivalent public-school employee who spends the majority of their time directly educating or counseling students. Read more at this link. Only one DonorsChoose account per teacher is permitted.
Q: What resources can educators request?
Educators can request classroom resources, including but not limited to supplies, technology, and instructional materials.
Q: Can a non-educator nominate an educator and/or project?
No. Funding through this partnership is intended to address the individual and specific need(s) of each educator and classroom. Educators must submit their own projects to participate in the program.
Q: Can educators submit multiple projects for funding?
Only one project per educator is eligible for this funding. Projects posted before January 7th are not eligible for funding. If a teacher has multiple projects available, the project posted first will receive the donation. Educators are encouraged to post additional projects to DonorsChoose and benefit from our community of donors.
Q: What is a thank-you package?
After your project has been fully funded and you’ve received all of your materials, you’ll be prompted to upload a short explanation of the impact of your project, as well as photos showing the impact your materials had in your classroom.
Q: Does the $690 donation cover the DonorsChoose fees and suggested donation?
Yes, the $690 donation includes those additional costs as they allow DonorsChoose to support these projects. These fees and the suggested donation cannot be removed from the Nevada one-time donation.
Q: How can I edit my project?
If your project has not received any donations, you can make any edits by returning your project to draft status. You can do this by heading over to the Projects section of your account and clicking on the "Return project to draft" button underneath your project title. Once your project is in draft status, you can make any edits and resubmit it. Then, it will be re-screened by our team and re-posted if eligible. Read more about editing your project.
Q: Do Essentials lists qualify for this funding opportunity?
No. Donations placed to an Essentials list will not be matched by this funding opportunity. Essentials lists are currently not eligible to receive matching donations from any funding opportunity. You can read more about Classroom Essentials in our Help Center.
