FIRST and 3M are thrilled to support public school teachers in leading FIRST teams and Class Packs with a selective funding opportunity. Projects requesting resources to support FIRST teams and Class Packs can have the chance to receive selective funding from FIRST. Unlike a match offer, this selective funding opportunity will help your project be considered by FIRST for a donation to partially fund your project.
Here’s how to get a project considered for selective FIRST funding:
- You teach at a public school where you already lead a FIRST team or Class Pack at your school or you are interested in implementing a FIRST team or Class Pack.
- Create a project requesting resources for your FIRST team or Class Pack, like 3D printers, laptops, computer tablets, FIRST robot supplies, LEGO robot or building sets, hand or power tools, or any other FIRST team or Class Pack materials needed. FIRST will not apply funding to projects that include team or Class Pack registration costs.
- Once your project is approved by DonorsChoose, you must fill out this form to have it considered for FIRST funding - funding is not guaranteed, all projects will be reviewed to meet donor intent.
- Equity Focus Projects will be prioritized as part of 3M’s commitment to reach 5 million underserved/underrepresented students by 2025.
Once you’ve filled out the form, use these tips to boost your fundraising while FIRST reviews your project. If your project is selected, you’ll receive a donation from FIRST within 2-4 weeks of your project’s approval date.
