Starting September 21, qualifying projects will receive a one-time donation of $650, while funds last. Projects must be approved and posted on or after this date to receive the donation.
If your project meets the criteria below, the one-time donation will appear once it is approved and live on the site.
How to qualify:

Teach in one of the following counties:
- Jefferson County, Arkansas
- Phillips County, Arkansas
- Coahoma County, Mississippi
- Post a new project on or after September 21, 2026. Projects posted or approved prior to this date will not be eligible for funding.
- Create a project requesting materials that are for teaching STEM or Literature/Language and select the corresponding subject area when creating your project.
- Request under $650 for your total project goal, including taxes, shipping, fees, and the suggested donation to support DonorsChoose. This is about $475 worth of materials. Projects with a total project goal higher than $650 will not qualify.

We receive our school data from a third party vendor called MDR. You can find out your school’s designation by visiting your school page through your teacher profile page.

Q: How can I edit my project?
If your project has not received any donations, you can make any edits by returning your project to draft status. You can do this by heading over to the Projects section of your account and clicking on the "Return project to draft" button underneath your project title. Once your project is in draft status, you can make any edits and resubmit it. Then, it will be re-screened by our team and re-posted if eligible. Read more about editing your project.
Q: Do Essentials lists qualify for this funding opportunity?
