Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How do I add the campaign code to my project?
Please click here for a video-walk through of adding campaign code.
A successful application of the campaign code during project creation will create a new banner on your project page. You will also see a success message after applying it and receive an email stating that your project has the campaign code applied.
Q: Can my project exceed $1000?
Your project may exceed $1000 total, including any applicable taxes, fees, shipping costs, and the suggested donation to DonorsChoose, but additional fundraising will be required.
Q: How can I ensure that my project is fully funded by the one-time donation?
Your project’s total goal, including any applicable taxes, fees, shipping costs, and the suggested donation to DonorsChoose, must be lower than the $1000 one-time donation amount. The total project goal is shown on your project as you’re carting materials. If your total project goal is higher than $1000, your project will require additional funding from the DonorsChoose community in order to be fully funded and receive materials.
Q: What is a historically underfunded school?
Historically underfunded schools on DonorsChoose are schools where 50% or more of students are Black, Latino, Native American, Pacific Islander, or multiracial, and 50% or more of students qualify for free or reduced price lunch, the standard measure for school economic need level. Check this page to learn more.
Q: How is information gathered about my school?
We receive our school data from a third party vendor called MDR. You can find out your school’s designation by visiting your school page through your teacher profile page.
Check this page to learn more about school page information.
Q: Can my project qualify for this $1000 donation and the DICK’S Sporting Goods match offer for team sports?
Yes, though the $1000 donation will not be matched. For projects that qualify for both offers, matching donations will only be given for projects exceeding $1000 in total, and only donations made after the $1000 opportunity will be matched. Projects under $1000 total will not receive matching funds, as the project will be fully funded by the $1000 opportunity.
Q: How can I edit my project?
If your project has not received any donations, you can make any edits by returning your project to draft status. You can do this by heading over to the Projects section of your account and clicking on the "Return project to draft" button underneath your project title. Once your project is in draft status, you can make any edits and resubmit it. Then, it will be re-screened by our team and re-posted if eligible. Read more about editing your project.
Q: Do Essentials Lists qualify for this funding opportunity?
No. Donations placed to an Essentials list will not be matched by this funding opportunity. Essentials lists are currently not eligible to receive matching donations from any funding opportunity. You can read more about Classroom Essentials in our Help Center.
