- To be fully funded by the one-time donation, create a project with a total goal of $500. This is about $350 in materials.
- Teachers from schools deemed inoperable may also be eligible for additional funding through the Los Angeles Wildlife Recovery Fund, while available.

Tips for Success
-
To maximize the funding you can receive from this opportunity, we recommend eligible teachers to first create a project with a total goal of $500, inclusive of fees and the suggested donation to DonorsChoose. This is about $350 in materials. Once this project is submitted and approved, it will receive the one-time donation and be fully funded.
- Any remaining funds from a one-time donation do not transfer beyond your first eligible project. Therefore, to maximize the amount of the one-time donation given to your project, we recommend a total project goal as close as possible to $500.

Click the buttons below to read the answers to each question, or use your spacebar after selecting your desired question.
Q: I’m a teacher interested in posting a project. How do I get started on DonorsChoose? ▼
Check out our DonorsChoose Teacher Toolkit with detailed information (including video tutorials and step-by-step guides) on how to get started on DonorsChoose, create a project, and more.
Q: Where can I find examples of classroom projects? ▼
DonorsChoose has thousands of live projects for you to browse. Try using the search filters to find projects in certain categories that you are most interested in, or ones posted by teachers similar to you (e.g., geography, grade level, etc.). You can also check out our Tips for Successful Project for more inspiration and guidance.
Q: What is the difference between the one-time donation and the match offer? ▼
The one-time donation will only be applied once, to your very first eligible project that is approved by our screening team. The remainder is not carried over to additional projects. Only projects approved and posted after January 7th, 2026 at 12pm ET will be eligible for the one-time donation.
The match offer, if applicable to your project(s), will apply matching donations to new donations, while funds last. That means a $20 donation will receive an additional $180 donation to become a total donation of $200, and so on. A new donation must be placed to your project to activate the matching funds. The match offer will apply to any eligible projects regardless of when they were approved and posted. Once funds for the match offer have concluded, no further donations will be matched.
Q: Is there a limit to the amount of matching funds I can receive from the 10X match offer? ▼
Eligible teachers can receive up to $1,000 from the 10X match offer across all their eligible projects. After a teacher has received $1,000 worth of matching donations, no further donations will be matched. This does not include the funding received from the one-time donation.
Q: Are there any restrictions on which donations are multiplied? ▼
Credit card, PayPal, account credit, and gift card donations to live projects are eligible for this match. Donations made directly to schools are not eligible for this match offer. Donations via check and donor-advised fund (DAF) will not be multiplied due to processing time. Previous donations placed before the match offer’s start date and time will not be multiplied. Please note, the match offer is not active for donations during Friends and Family Pre-Funding (the period when our team is reviewing projects).
Donations placed to an Essentials list will not be matched by this funding opportunity. Essentials lists are currently not eligible to receive matching donations from any funding opportunity. You can read more about Classroom Essentials in our Help Center.
Q: How can I edit my posted project? ▼
If your project has not received any donations, you can make any edits by returning your project to draft status. You can do this by heading over to the Projects section of your account and clicking on the "Return project to draft" button underneath your project title. Once your project is in draft status, you can make any edits and resubmit it. Then, it will be re-screened by our team and re-posted if eligible. Read more about editing your project.
Q: Who owns materials received through DonorsChoose? ▼
Although teachers are the sole stewards of their project materials, materials funded through DonorsChoose generally belong to the public school or Head Start center at which the teacher is employed when resources are shipped. To read the full DonorsChoose Materials Ownership Policy and learn about possible exceptions, please reference the related Help Center article here.
Q: How are materials shipped, and when can I expect to receive them? ▼
Once your project meets its goal, make sure to take the steps outlined here including confirming your project so that your materials can be ordered. Physical materials typically ship and arrive within 2-3 weeks of ordering.
Q: I’m a teacher in need of technical assistance or other support. What should I do? ▼
