In-person Class Trip and Class Visitor projects are unavailable until early 2022. You can still submit a virtual class trip or visitor project!
We’ve removed this project option to ensure the safety of our community and to reduce any potential risk for our teachers and students. The CDC continues to recommend virtual events in lieu of in-person trips or visitors. We’re doing our best to follow the lead of the nation's experts when it comes to student and teacher safety. This is a temporary change in reaction to the coronavirus pandemic.
What does this mean?
You will no longer have the ability to create a trip or visitor project that involves an in-person component. This includes any project that requires travel on the part of teachers or students. The Class Trip or Class Visitor project type is no longer available when creating a new project.
What types of visitors or experiences can I request?
You can post a project for a virtual or online experience for you or your students. If you have an online event in mind, you can submit it as a virtual class trip or virtual class visitor project. While many virtual experiences (both professional development and student learning) are eligible as long as they meet project eligibility requirements, we are unable to post projects for virtual experiences and resources from Get Your Teach On.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are in-person trip and visitor projects paused?
We want to make sure that the safety of our teachers and students is always a priority. In accordance with the most recent recommendations from the CDC, in-person events are not recommended in the US at this time.
We also want to help teachers support student learning today rather than wait for what is unknown tomorrow. Travel agencies, museums, restaurants, and airlines are all still trying to make critical business changes in response to coronavirus. We’re waiting to return in-person events at a time when all businesses, communities, and schools have had time to implement their new safety practices.
What about my fully funded trip or visitor project?
If you have a fully funded trip or visitor project that you have yet to attend, you should already be in touch with our Fulfillment team. Our team is still dedicated to bringing the spirit of your project to life.
If you or your students have already attended your class trip or visitor project, you still need to complete your Thank-You Package. You can view instructions directly within your account, or by heading to our help center.
What if the trip I wanted to take is still taking place or has been rescheduled to a later date?
You will not be able to fundraise for these trips on DonorsChoose at this time.
What about my Professional Development project?
Any project that involves an in-person or travel element cannot be posted on DonorsChoose at this time. If you’re interested in attending an online or virtual conference or other Professional Development experience, you can create a Special Request project.
