Thanks to the generosity of funders eager to support public school teachers and students during the coronavirus school closures, we’re piloting the Keep Kids Learning program, which helps teachers customize kits for students to continue learning at home.
This opportunity is only available to a select group of teachers in this pilot stage. If you haven’t been invited to this program, please check our Help Center guidance about the Keep Kids Learning program for updates on this funding.
For ease of experience, we highly recommend reading through this “how to” content prior to using your Amazon.com Education Assistance Product Voucher.
Using your Amazon.com Education Assistance Product Voucher
Before redeeming your Amazon.com Education Assistance Product Voucher, make sure —
You are logged into Amazon.com, not Amazon Business. Look at the upper left hand side of the page. You should see an Amazon.com logo. Not an Amazon Business logo (which you may have used in our standard project experience previously). See the difference.
You log into or are logged into the account you wish to use for this program. Once redeemed, the entire voucher amount will be stored in your account's voucher balance. Your voucher balance can’t be transferred to other accounts.
Once you've confirmed you're logged into the correct account on Amazon.com, redeem your Amazon.com Education Assistance Product Voucher.
Before starting, be sure to empty your Amazon.com shopping cart of any personal items. You can do so by going to your cart and selecting “save for later” next to any items in your cart.
Navigate to the Amazon.com Education Assistance Product Voucher page.
This page is where you’ll find all eligible items: the art supplies, classroom basics, hygiene items, and shelf-stable food items that you can select from for your students. As you shop, only select items from the page above: this is critical as the Amazon.com Education Assistance Product Voucher will only show up as a payment method if ALL items in your shopping cart are selected from that page.
We suggest that you find an item from this page, add it to your cart, and navigate back to the Amazon.com Education Assistance Product Voucher page to select another item. This will best ensure that the items you select are eligible.
Shipping to multiple addresses?
If you are shipping to multiple student addresses, we recommend you add all of the shipping addresses prior to shopping. Note: a phone number is required for any new address. If you are adding a student address and do not want to or do not have access to their phone number, you can enter your own.
Once you confirm all shipping addresses are in place, go to the Amazon.com Education Assistance Product Voucher page and shop for eligible items.
When you’re ready to checkout —
- During the Choose a Shipping Address portion of checkout (step one), select “Shipping to more than one address?”
- From here, follow the prompts to select the correct shipping destination for each of the items in your cart.
Note: you also have the option to add new addresses at this point in the case that you forgot an address. You could add all addresses at this point, too, but teachers have found that it’s a bit easier to add the addresses prior to checkout.
- Select “Use these addresses” to move to the payment portion of checkout.
Important Payment Notes
Important: Make sure the Amazon.com Education Assistance Product Voucher is showing as the payment method (not any saved credit card information you may have stored on Amazon.com) prior to placing your order.
It should look like the below image when the voucher is available as a payment method.
- If you do not see the voucher showing as the payment method, it means that you have at least one ineligible item in your cart or you didn't deposit the voucher. The Amazon.com education voucher will only show up as a payment method if ALL items in your shopping cart are eligible. What to do when you don't see the voucher as a payment option.
- Once you confirm the payment method is your saved voucher, select “Use this payment method” to move to the review stage.
Note: If your order total is over $1000 (including any taxes and shipping fees), you will have to pay the remaining amount or remove an item(s) from your cart to lower the cost.
- Confirm details and “Place order.” You’ll receive all standard Amazon.com confirmation and shipping updates. If you have any questions about your orders or shipping, you should contact Amazon.com support directly for assistance.
Frequently Asked Questions
I don’t see the Amazon.com Education Assistance Product Voucher as a payment method.
There are a few things to check here —
Make sure you are logged into Amazon.com and not Amazon Business. You will be able to confirm this by looking for the Amazon.com logo on the upper left of the screen.
If you see the Amazon Business logo and have already redeemed your voucher, you will need to contact Amazon Business support directly to ask that the voucher be released from your Amazon Business account.
Make sure you have deposited your voucher in your Amazon.com account. To check, go to “Your Account,” then select “Product Vouchers.” Any vouchers in your account should appear there.
Check your the total line items in your cart. The voucher will not work if you have more than 40 individual items in your cart. You can have multiple quantities of the same item, but if you have more than 40 unique items you will need to split your cart into multiple orders.
If you confirmed all of the above and still don’t see the voucher as a payment method, you have an ineligible item(s) in your shopping cart. There is no way to identify which item(s) is ineligible once it’s in your cart.
- You can scan your cart to see if it’s obvious which item(s) doesn’t belong, and remove that item(s). Remember this voucher can be used only on items from the Amazon.com Education Assistance Product Voucher page.
- If you have no luck with spot checking, we suggest that you empty your cart and begin again with shopping, making sure you’re selecting items from the Amazon.com Education Assistance Product Voucher page.
Why was my credit card charged?
Contact Amazon.com Customer Support to cancel your transaction as soon as possible.
- If your card was charged for the total amount, you had at least one ineligible item in your cart at checkout.
- If your card was charged for a partial amount, that would be any amount over your total voucher value.
How can I tell which items are eligible and which are not?
Once in your cart, there is no way to tell an eligible item from an ineligible item. The best thing to do is always begin shopping from the Amazon.com Education Assistance Product Voucher page.
How can I search for items eligible to purchase with the Amazon.com Education Assistance Product voucher?
To search only for eligible items, make sure the "Department" in the Amazon search bar says Education Assistance PV. See what that looks like below.
What can I get with this voucher?
We’ve made sure this voucher supports books, classroom basics, and art supplies. You can see all eligible items from the Amazon.com Education Assistance Product Voucher page.
Why can’t I request laptops or tablets for my students?
We know that remote learning is challenging for many students who might not have access to technology like laptops or tablets at home. Because most school districts have policies in place to manage and support devices like these — and many are embarking on their own ambitious programs to support students with these items — we’ve omitted those items from this funding opportunity to avoid potential challenges for you and your students.
We hope the items available at the Amazon.com Education Assistance Product Voucher page can still help you support your students.
Why does it say that it won't ship for a long time?
Many vendors are experiencing supply and shipping delays right now. The shipping speed from Amazon will be clearly stated through the checkout process. If you have concerns about shipping speed or want more information on that, you will need to contact Amazon support for more details.
What happens if I spend more than my total voucher amount?
If all items in your cart are from the Amazon.com Education Assistance Product Voucher page and the total cost (with tax and any shipping) is over your total voucher amount, you will be charged and asked to pay for any remaining amount.
Do I have to be an Amazon Prime member to use this voucher?
No. You can shop for eligible items and use the voucher without a Prime membership.
Do I have to use it all at once?
No. Once you redeem the Amazon.com education voucher, you can use it to shop for eligible items until there are no funds remaining on the voucher. You can see the remaining balance from your Amazon.com account.
Does the voucher expire?
While the voucher does not expire once redeemed to your Amazon.com account, the intent of this program is to address the immediate and critical needs of your students. As such, we expect — as outlined in our application process — that the funds be used within two weeks to ship materials to students in need.
