How does it work?

Starting May 17, 2019, sign up for Workbench, Google’s lesson and resource library for educators, and remix a lesson (options are listed below) for the DonorsChoose.org Classroom Rewards. Your new, customized lesson will be shared with fellow members of the Workbench community, and, after submitting a completion survey, you’ll qualify for a $200 DonorsChoose.org gift code, while funds last. The best remixed lesson will receive an additional $1,000 DonorsChoose.org gift code!

How to qualify for the rewards

  1. Sign up for a Workbench account.
    • Be sure to use this link, which is for instructors. Do not sign up as a student or parent.
  2. Select and review one of the following Applied Digital Skills lessons:
  3. Copy the Applied Digital Skills lesson using Workbench’s ‘copy’ feature.
    • To copy a lesson, click the three dots at the top right of your screen and select “copy” from the dropdown menu that appears.
  4. Remix the lesson! This should take you at least 30 minutes.
    • Remixing entails customizing your selected Applied Digital Skills lesson for your classroom in a creative and engaging way by making at least 5 meaningful changes.
      • As an example, you may decide to make a copy of “Create a Presentation All About a Topic” and customize it so it meets your 10th grade classroom assignment on the anatomy of a cell by including notes for your students, adding/removing steps to fit your classroom needs, adding in supplementary resources like articles and documentaries, and adding in specific homework assignments for your students.
    • In addition to these changes, be sure to change the title of the lesson. This will be a necessary step to receive your $200 DonorsChoose.org gift code.
  5. Publish your remixed lesson publicly to Workbench. If you publish your lesson privately, we will not be able to view your work when reviewing your submission for the Classroom Rewards. Once you publish your remixed lesson, it will go through a quality assurance team before it is fully public. This process should take up to 24 hours.
  6. Submit this completion survey. You will be asked to include a link to your publicly published remixed lesson on Workbench. Remember to change the title of your lesson before submitting the survey.
    • You must submit a completion survey in order to be considered for the Classroom Rewards DonorsChoose.org gift code.
  7. Once the link to your remixed lesson is verified, you will receive your $200 DonorsChoose.org gift code within two weeks!
  8. The teacher with the most creative and engaging remixed lesson will receive an additional $1,000 DonorsChoose.org gift code. A high-quality remix customizes the content for your classroom goals and uses the content in a creative and engaging way, customizes the content for your classroom goals.
    • The recipient of the gift code will be chosen one month after the Classroom Rewards funds have been fully applied to eligible submissions. We will update this Help Center with a specific selection date once the completion survey has closed.
