Innovation Challenge: Charles Schwab Foundation matching donations on financial literacy projects

Update 6/11/2019: As of 11:59 PM EST on Friday, June 14, no new projects will be accepted for this Match. The Match will still be applied to live projects that are already eligible and will remain active until funds have been fully applied to eligible projects.

What kind of match?

All qualifying projects will receive a 2X Match. That means a $20 donation will become a $40 donation.

In addition, the top 10 most innovative projects (see selection process, below) will receive $1,000 in DonorsChoose.org Gift codes!

If your project meets the criteria below, new donations on your project will be matched as long as funding remains. You will see the match offer applied to your project as soon as it is approved and live on the site. Please note, the match offer will not appear during Friends and Family Pre-Funding.

How to qualify:

  • Create an innovative project that teaches your students about financial literacy.
  • To be considered for the Innovation Challenge (see below), your project should be live by May 31, 2019. Be sure to submit your project by May 27, 2019 to give it enough time to be posted before the deadline.
  • Keep your total project goal under $600, including taxes, shipping, fees, and the suggested donation to support DonorsChoose.org.
  • You may post multiple projects for this Match Offer, however you will only receive up to $3,000 in matched donations across projects.
  • Select Financial Literacy as your subject area, which you can find under the “History & Civics” category.

Create your project

Receive an additional $1,000 gift code through our Innovation Challenge:

Qualifying projects that are live on our site by May 31, 2019 will be considered for this Innovation Challenge. The 10 teachers with the most innovative projects will each win a $1,000 DonorsChoose.org gift code!

  • Submit your project with time to be made live on the site by May 31st, 2019. We recommend submitting your project by May 27, 2019 at the latest.
  • The winning teachers will be selected by July 1st, 2019.
  • Winning teachers will have the opportunity to develop and share lesson plans that show their project idea in action, which will then be disseminated and executed by teachers across the country. More to come on this in the next school year!
  • Here is the scoring rubric for how we will be evaluating submitted projects:
