Shabby Chic:

#FillEveryShelf with matched donations to book projects today, October 25th, 2018

Update 10/26/18: Our #FillEveryShelf campaign has ended. Thank you to our teachers and donors for this huge success. Together we brought over 150,000 books to over 260,000 students!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Books have the power to bring you back in time, into the future, and to see the world through another person’s eyes. That’s why they’re a classroom essential; they can make all the difference to a student’s education. Today, October 25th, DonorsChoose.org is helping teachers #FillEveryShelf with matched donations to book projects.

This 2X Match Offer will match all donations to book projects from Thursday, October 25th, 7:00 AM EST to Friday, October 26th, 3:00 AM EST. If you have a live book project on our site, today is the perfect day to give that fundraising an extra push!

Do you have questions? We’ve got answers.

How will I know if my project qualifies for #FillEveryShelf?

You’ll know your project qualifies if you have the #FillEveryShelf logo on your project today, October 25th! You’ll also receive an email from our team to let you know when the #FillEveryShelf match has begun for your project.

Please note, the match offer won’t appear on your project during Friends and Family Pre-funding, and donations made during that time will only be matched if your project was approved before or during the #FillEveryShelf timeframe.

What exactly is a book project?

A project is automatically categorized as "books” if the project’s cost is mostly made up of books. If, however, you have a project live on our site that you think is a book project, but you don’t see the #FillEveryShelf logo on your project on October 25th, let us know, and we’ll look into the matter for you. By the way, audiobooks, e-books, and e-readers also qualify! However, other tech resources won’t.

What about if the book is for me, and not my students (ie a professional development project)?

Professional development book projects are eligible for this match.

Do magazines and newspapers count as book projects?

Yup! Paper and online subscriptions will be categorized as book projects.

What about software to boost reading comprehension?

Reading comprehension software will not qualify for this match.

I don’t have a live book project on the site right now. Can I submit one today and qualify for the match?

This match will only be for live projects on our site. You are welcome to submit a book project now, but we cannot guarantee that we will approve your project in time to receive the match. My project qualifies and will have the #FillEveryShelf logo! What’s the best way to get matched donations on my book project?
Our teachers report that emailing friends and family is the most effective way to make sure you get donations on the day of the match. For maximum impact, you can pair your email outreach with a post on social media. Remember to remind your donors that the match is on October 25th only! Any donations received after October 26th at 3:00 AM EST will not receive the match.
