Student thank you notes are physical notes of gratitude from classrooms who have received funding from DonorsChoose. Student thank you notes are not available for all donations, and they may take longer than anticipated to be recorded as arrived in our system.
If you are a donor who has been notified that student thank you notes are on their way, they should arrive to your mailing address on file within 3 weeks. It may take up to 6 months after a project is funded for student thank you notes to arrive, as teachers typically have a 4 month window to complete the request. Notes are then mailed to our office for review before being sent back out to the intended donor.
If you are a teacher who has mailed your student thank you notes to our office using the prepaid label, please note that these notes may take up to 6 weeks to reach us. This is because we use business reply mail to offer postage-free mailing labels to teachers, which has a different, and often extended delivery timeline compared to traditional postage. This type of postage also means we’re unable to track the status of individual packages.
If you have already mailed your notes to us, you can log the mail date on the student thank you note instructions page in your teacher account. This will let our system know that the notes are officially on their way! You'll still get an email from us as soon as we receive your student thank-you notes in our office.
If it has been 3 months since the mail date you indicated on your teacher account and you still haven’t received an email confirming they've arrived in our office, you can contact us to learn about next steps.
