Please carefully review the below instructions for each reward opportunity, as the instructions do vary depending on your grade level and specific reward. Not all opportunities are available for all grade levels.
Journaling and Mental Health Support for Teens’ Well-Being
To be eligible for this opportunity, you must:
- Teach 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and/or 12th grade in California.
- Have a printer and A/V equipment. Be able to print worksheets in advance for each student, and have a way to show videos with audio to the class.
- Conduct a pre-lesson poll. Students will answer questions to assess their current knowledge of mental health resources and support services.
- Show videos about journaling and mental health resources to your class. Students will watch two engaging videos that explain mental health support services and demonstrate how journaling can improve emotional wellbeing.
- Lead a journaling exercise in class. Guide students through reflective writing prompts designed to explore emotions and develop self-awareness skills.
- Conduct a post-lesson poll. Students will complete a brief survey to show what they've learned about mental health resources and journaling techniques.
- Tell us how it went by completing a feedback form. Your responses will be shared with the Child Mind Institute.

Healthy Digital Habits
To be eligible for this opportunity, you must:
- Teach 6-12th grade in California.
- Be able to print worksheets in advance for each student and have a way to show videos in class.

Deliver the lesson to your class using the provided materials, including:
- Conduct pre and post-lesson polls
- Show two educational videos
- Guide discussions and activities

Use the Teacher Toolkit to make it easy. The lesson comes with:
- A lesson plan
- Student worksheets
- Prompts for group or pair discussions
- Tell us how it went by completing the feedback form. Your responses will be shared with the Child Mind Institute.

Digital Wellness: Student-Designed Classroom Lessons [newly added as of 5/15/26]
- Teach 9th-12th grade in California.
- Be able to print worksheets in advance for each student, and have a way to show the online activities with audio to the class.

Review both intervention options using the provided materials, including:
- Conduct a pre- and post-lesson polls
- Lead a lesson using the intervention of your choice in class
- Guide discussions and activities
- Tell us how it went by completing a feedback form. Your responses will be shared with the Child Mind Institute.

For all reward opportunities, we will review your submitted form(s) within three weeks. If your response is approved, we will email your $400 DonorsChoose gift code(s).
Teachers may earn and redeem 1 gift code from each activity.
Please note, once you have submitted, our team is unable to make any direct changes or edits to your form.
Per our Terms of Use, teachers are expected to submit Classroom Reward responses representative of their own classroom. A violation of this expectation is subject to action and review by DonorsChoose and may result in terminating your use of the site.

Q. Can I complete multiple activities?
Yes! As long as you meet the eligibility criteria, you may complete the activities for multiple activities listed above and submit individual feedback forms. You may earn a maximum of one gift code per activity.
Q. I completed some of these opportunities before May 7th; am I eligible to do them again?
Yes! Teachers who completed these opportunities before 5/7/26 may complete them again for another gift code.
Q. I submitted my form but haven't received my gift code. What should I do?
Please be sure it has been at least 3 full weeks since you submitted your form, and double check your Spam folder! If you still cannot locate a response, please contact us.
