The “amount needed” at the top of your project page refers to the amount a donor would need to give to fully fund a project at the given time.
The “amount needed” may decrease when a project becomes eligible for a match offer, and it may increase when a match offer is removed or no longer available.
For example, if a project is $200 and has not yet received donations, the progress bar will show "$200 still needed." However, if the project is eligible for match offer that doubles donations, the progress bar will show "$100 still needed" for the duration of the match, since a donor could give $100, to be matched with an additional $100, to fully fund the project. If the match offer is removed, the amount needed will return to $200.
This project needs $69 excluding the match offer to be fully funded. If this match offer is removed or no longer available, this amount needed will become $138.
