Starting January 5, 2026 qualifying projects will receive a 2X match on new donations. That means a $20 donation will receive an additional $20 donation to become a total donation of $40, and so on
If your project meets the criteria below, new donations on your project will be matched as long as funding remains. Once your project is approved and live on the site, you will see the match offer displayed on your project page.
How to qualify:
- Teach at an Equity Focus School.
- Teach grades 6th - 12th.

Teach at a school in one of the following areas:

- Any of New York City’s 5 counties: Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island
- Westchester county
- Los Angeles Unified School District

- Ensure that your project essay discusses how your requested materials will create a calming or calm space for students.
- Request under $1,000 for your total project goal, including taxes, shipping, fees, and the suggested donation to support DonorsChoose. Projects with a total project goal higher than $1,000 will not qualify. This is about $800 worth of materials.
What won’t qualify:
- Charter schools are not eligible for this funding opportunity.

If your project has not received any donations, you can make any edits by returning your project to a draft status. You can do this by heading over to the Projects section of your account and clicking on the "Return project to draft" button underneath your project title.
