Updated October 7th: As of 9:02am ET on October 7th, this match offer is no longer available. New donations on projects that originally had this match will not be doubled.
Starting October 3rd at 7am ET and while funds last, qualifying projects will receive a 2X match on new donations. That means a $20 donation will become a $40 donation, and so on.
If your project meets the criteria below, new donations on your project will be matched as long as funding remains. Once your project is approved and live on the site, you will see the match offer displayed on your project page.
How to qualify:
-
Create a project requesting books for your students. (If you already have one on the site, you’re all set!)
- If your project’s total cost of materials is mostly books (51%+ of total), then your project will contain the “Books” tag, which means your project will qualify for the match
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Why don’t I see the “Books” tag on my project which has books in it?
The majority of your project’s cost must be for items categorized as books. This means that 51% of your project’s total cost should be books. If you have added other items that cost more than your books, then your project will not qualify.
Example 1:
You have three items in your project cart: two (2) books that cost $20 and one (1) bookshelf that costs $200. Because the bookshelf is the majority of your project’s cost, your project will be categorized as storage—not books, despite there being more quantity of books.
Q: Can I post a project before October 3rd to be eligible?
Yes! We recommend posting a project ahead of time, ideally around 5 business days beforehand, since our team of teacher volunteers will screen your project before it is eligible for the match. Posting early will give your project time to get through this screening process.
Q: Are there any restrictions on which donations are matched?
Credit card, PayPal, account credit, and gift card donations to live projects are eligible for this match while funds last. Donations via check and donor-advised fund (DAF) will not be matched due to processing time.
Q: Can I have more than one project that qualifies!
Yes! Teachers may receive the match on any number of projects. We suggest breaking a big project up into two projects for a higher likelihood of funding.
Q: How can I edit my posted project?
If your project has not received any donations, you can make any edits by returning your project to a draft status. You can do this by heading over to the Projects section of your account and clicking on the "Return project to draft" button underneath your project title. Once your project is in draft status, you can make any edits and resubmit it. Then, it will be re-screened by our team and re-posted if eligible. Read more about editing your project.
