You can remove any project that's currently available for funding through your teacher account. This will "archive" the project, which means it is no longer available for funding, will not appear in our search tools, but can still be viewed by the creator and anyone with a link.
Before removing a project, please review the following:
- Removal is permanent and irreversible. The project will be archived and moved to the “Other archived” tab, on the Projects section of your projects page, where you can view it but you won't be able to edit or repost it.
- When you remove a project, any donations will be returned to the donors as DonorsChoose account credits. If any friends and family made donations through your unique URL, we’ll send those donations to you automatically as DonorsChoose gift codes to use toward your next project.
- The points you used to submit this project will be returned to your teacher account. You can use these points to post another project in the future.
To remove a project, scroll to the “Projects” section on your projects page, click the “Live” tab and then click "Archive project" next to the project that you wish to remove.
Once your project is archived, you can still access your essay and a list of the requested materials through your teacher account. Just click on the project title for easy access to this information. You're welcome to reference it to create and submit a new project.
Projects may also be archived for the following reasons:
- A project draft has not been modified within 30 days. To prevent a draft from being auto-archived, please make any small change to the project to reset this timeline.
- Action is needed for a project and the teacher has not responded to our communication attempts.
- There are circumstances that prevent the project from moving forward.
