How it works: selective funding opportunities

A Selective Funding opportunity is an offer from a corporation or foundation that is not automatically applied to projects. These offers can take two forms:

  • The funder is offering to put a certain amount of money (e.g. $100) towards selected projects that meet very specific criteria.
  • The funder has chosen to hand-pick requests to qualify for match Double Your Impact (DYI) or Almost Home (AH) funding. These offers are not marked as DYI or AH funding when promoted, as projects do not automatically qualify when posted. Instead, the grantor hand-picks projects every week or two to show with their logo.

Please read these offers carefully as they are usually more specific and narrow with their criteria. There is no special application process for this funding, so just submit your project at DonorsChoose.org for consideration. If selected, funding will be applied directly to your project or a logo and offer will appear on your request within two weeks of posting!

A list of current funding opportunities is distributed to all registered teachers monthly via our teacher newsletter. You can also view these opportunities via our match offers page.
