The majority of materials from fully funded projects are delivered to school addresses.
Under extenuating circumstances, certain projects are eligible for flexible shipping to locations other than a school address. Otherwise, we'll still need your school address to ship materials that are ineligible for flexible shipping. Having a school's physical address also helps to verify your school's status as an eligible public school.
What if my school building is closed?
If you are unable to receive packages at your school, and your project is ineligible for flexible shipping, we can update your school’s address to any of the following:
- A district administrative office
- A district warehouse
- A district meal distribution site
- Another school in your district that is open or available to receive packages
In order to do so, we’ll need confirmation from your school’s principal, or someone else in an administrative role, that this updated location is accessible to all teachers at your school and can be used for any materials shipments for your school.
We cannot update school addresses to:
- Residential locations, including homes of administrators
- Offices or buildings that are not affiliated with your school or district
- Offices or buildings that are part of other school districts
What if my school has multiple locations?
Some schools may have annex or satellite locations, or exist in separate buildings.
We typically catalog schools on our site by physical address. Even if your school is all technically one school, we may have it in our database as two separate entries, i.e. “Washington Elementary - Main Street Campus” and “Washington Elementary - Broad Street Campus,” with the appropriate address attached for each.
If your school has multiple locations, we’d be happy to add these additional locations. Please submit a school addition form and provide as much detail as possible so that we can accurately catalog your school in our database.
What if materials need to go to a central location?
We’d be happy to update your school’s address, or the address of all schools in your district, if your administration has indicated that all materials must go to a central location before reaching your school, or in the case of COVID-19 closures. Please reach out to us through your teacher account through the following steps:
- Click on "Teaching details"
- Click on "Update school information"
- Click on “School details are incorrect”
- Provide the updated address and reason for change
Why is my school’s address not its physical address?
We may have updated your school’s address in response to COVID-19 related closures earlier in 2020, at the request of a teacher at your school or district.
Some districts also have policies that existed pre-COVID which require all shipments to go to a central receiving location to be cataloged before being distributed to schools.
We recognize that this may cause some confusion as your school’s address and/or zip code are used in many parts of our site, including teacher registration, donor search, and match offers.
