Automatic monthly donations allow donors to set up a regular gift, to either a particular teacher or as credits to their account. Monthly donations are the best giving option for you if you are short on time, want to fund classroom projects every month, and want make a lasting impact on public schools.
You can cancel your monthly classroom gift at any time by first signing into your account and then visiting the Private Info tab of your account or edit your monthly gift. For further information on how to adjust or cancel your gift, see below.
How do monthly donations work?
- Choose the amount you’d like to donate each month.
- We’ll charge your card on the 17th of each month and notify you when “credits” are available in your DonorsChoose account. Alternatively, you can select a teacher to donate to on a monthly basis, and we'll send those funds as a gift card each month to that teacher.
- You’ll have 30 days in which to hand-pick a classroom project(s) if you’d like to choose how your donation is spent.
After 30 days, if you haven’t picked a project, we’ll allocate your donation to one that is in urgent need of support.
*If the charge fails on the 17th -- often due to an expired card, a canceled card, a temporarily disabled card, or an insufficient balance -- we will try again the following month.

Step 1: Navigate to your "Private Info" tab in your account and click "Edit enrollment"
Step 2: Scroll to the bottom of the page, and click "Cancel my donation"
Step 3: Confirm your cancellation on the pop-up window by clicking "Cancel my donation"
